Cousins, animals and heroines

When I was child I watched TV so much, many different TV programme because a kid haven’t responsibilities to achieve. Besides, I lived with my cousins so we stayed hours and more hours in front of TV playing and pretending we were the characters of TV. For this reason I don’t remember a particular TV programme important for me, but more than one was important in my infancy above all the relation with my cousin when we watched TV.

For example, we watched Los trotamúsicos. This cartoon was inspirated in the Grimm Brother’s story “The Bremen’s musicians” and it told about a dog, a cat, a cock and a donkey what oppressed in them lives for different reasons decided to go of them houses and when they met they decided to be happy playing music and to protect to people of robbers of Bremen. There, each one imitated one animal.

Other programme was, obviously, Sailor Moon. It was a cartoon about Serena, a scholar girl who discovers to have magic powers to fight against the darkness and to save the world. She isn’t alone and she must to find her partners, and each one is related with a celestial body like the Moon and planets. In this story, the principal, Serena, is in love of Darien, and both were lovers princes from past lives and a war separated and died them. In this story, also I was a of this heroines, but I don't remeber who.

I like both story because these teach me much about friendship, loyalty and the fights against the bad things.

Victor Jara

For me, the greatest Chilean of all time is Víctor Jara. He was a singer-songwriter, musician, performance’s university teacher, theatre director, political activist and Comunism Party’s militant in full Popular Unity.

Victor Jara was born in a poor rural family, for this reason he left the school and he started to work. When his mother died, his family was dissolved and he joined at Seminary. 2 years later, he left the Seminary and joined at Military Service. When he was 21 years joined at a theatre company and later started to study Performance at University of Chile. In that time, he didn’t have where to live and he slept in the street.

He was an important piece in the national artistic development, mainly in theatre and music but above all he was a man deeply engaged with social and political causes, and his artistic work ever was orientated to that. He was a tireless social fighter, living himself many social injustices.

Really, I would not know what to ask him; simply I admire him, his spirit and strength, even his last moments because he was tortured and murdered, but before to die he wrote a last poem about that national situation.

Victor Jara was burn with cigarillos, hit with a revolver in his hands until broke its. He is died on September, 16th, 5 days later of coup d'état, and his body was found on September, 19th with 44 impacts of bullet. The guilty soldiers still today is free.

But Victor Jara still live!

Pets

Hello! Today I go to talk about my pets.

In my life, I have had few pets, each one few time. They were 3 dogs: Princess, the first, was given to boyfriend’s older sister, when I was 8 years; Pinky, the second, died because a gastroenteritis when I was 10 years, in 2001’s winter. Like it was very sad for me, my parents got Kuky. It arrived at my house 6 months after death of Pinky, in the summer of 2001, but it leave my house and was lost one month later.

But, when I reached 11 years, in January of 2002, I was on holidays in south and when I returned to Santiago, my parents had for me and my sister a beautiful little brown dog, mongrel of dachshund, so nice. It looked like a mouse, fit in my hand. Its name is Simba and lives with me still.

Simba doesn’t do many things. Really, it only eat and sleep, because it is some old now and fat. It love when anyone caress its belly but it’s grumpy with strange people. Now, it have visited many to the vet because its left eye have a conjunctivitis, and now Simba is on a diet and it must to go for a walk everyday.

Well, also I must call to the Ary, the cat of the house. It was finded in the grandmom’s house, in San Carlos, in 2012’s February and we had sad to leave it, so to bring it to Santiago and my mom and sister falled in love for it. It’s a cat very spoilt and for this reason I didn’t love it at first. But it win my love with the time.

They are the most nice. I love them so much.

enviromental

To stay in the university has open my eyes respect many thing in the world. Before I never had to preocupate about what a lot of bag I use to buy, but now I really avoid to have bag a bit much, even avoid almost completely to have bag, prefering to use cloth bags.

I was very lier if I would say "I am very concerned about enviroment", but I try to think somethings about it, but still I am a novice in this topic.

I don't recicle, neither in the university, I forgot ever to do it. But, today I try to be more friendly with my enviroment, for example, riding on bike often to go to different places, avoiding public transport; also I try to reuse the white paper, and I am thinking with a friends to built a organic vegetable patch, but now is difficult its.

About my carbon footprint, I declare to be absolutly ignorant. I don't know anything how, because I never had to investigate about it... Well, never is late to learn.

Santiago is a city very careless in this topic. Really few municipality are worried about recicle or take care of damage to world, ever the streets are dirty, the people don't take care anything, throw out litter in every places. Nobody teach to anybody something like enviroment, the most times is individual preocupation about it, for this reason is important take conscience and to work for a better world.

Best friend

Hi! I will talk about my best friend: she is Francisca. We met us in 2009 at University, because both are classmates in Sociology. In the start, we worked together in a subject and it isn't a very good experience, therefore both promised never more to work together... but the live decided other things.

Francisca and me have a lot of things in common. We are similar in many facets, we complement very good, since our musical likes until the women's rol in the society, each day we discover something in common more, like this I learn from her and she learn from me.

We had to live great experiences together: we had to travel out of the country to Buenos Aires, Montevideo and Mendoza, also we were going to holiday in 2012's summer with my family. Other great experience was when we met to our favorite musical singer, only 10 days ago... still I don't believe it, both were stupefied that day. Really, she and me had to live many amazing moments. But, I believe the better possible experience is get along with her everyday almost like sisters: feel me like one more in her home and I can to confide with her everytime.

See us 1 or 2 times in a week, in the university or in her home, because I go often. Both share many ordinary moments like to cook, to watch TV or to dye our hair.

Well, here there is a collage about us. There are pictures of our travel to Buenos Aires, Montevideo and Mendoza, also Valparaíso; also when we went to hospital together and when we met Ciro Pertusi, love of our lifes.

Chilenidad

I don't believe that anything define what is to be Chilean, but if I believe there are specific somethings that distinguish us of other cultures, but this differents sometimes are used to feel us a society better than others. I don’t agree with the nationalism feelings and I really hate to establish different between cultures and to champion your culture, and I believe that when we try to define us, it end to fostering national egos and hate against the “other”.

Can enjoy a holidays in the middle of the year is fantastic, but I don’t like the “Chilenidad” as if it would be a bloc. Also, I believe that Chileans are very lazy with respect to the social reality: Chileans have a obedient and submissive culture, and exist here a conformism in relation to our position in the world, leaving out a lot of social problems to live quiet don't worry them.

But, there are many others customs in the chilean culture deeply rooted that are very funny, like the tipical games: palo encebadorayuela, volantín. Also this time is perfect to share in family or friends, to rest and to stroll.

The elements should be celebrated of this culture are our native people, our awesome diversity of flora and fauna, reclaim our nature and origin, our people.

Regards!

Bitch beach, I feel field.

Hello!

Today I will talk you about beaches. Really, I dislike beaches: sand in everythings, the crowd, burning sun, many kids, many racket. NO! I really dislike. A day in the beach there isn’t any moment of peace, and for this reason I hate it. I love the quiet places, for this reason I prefer places like the field, and if I would choose any place to get out of the city (and of all my obligations in the world) this place would be the field of my grandmom.

This place is located in San Carlos, Eighth region, 18 kilometers to the mountain range. Is a rural area and before I stayed every summer there, but now is more difficult to go because generally I work all the summers and I only can go to field few days, each some months. But I try to go two or three times to year.

There I rest and sleep many. Also I eat a lot of ember bread with eggs, tomatoes and pepper. With my cousins, sometimes I am playing cards whole afternoon or we invent many things to cook like cookies, cakes, french fries, cheese pasties… well, anything, many food. Or also we do drinks like earthquake or michelada. In this place, I love to go for a walk and take many photos, and from little I often read beside a canal, there is very cool and calm.

It is my favourite place in the world.

Regards!

Everything!

In short words: I want to learn everything. Really I am so so so unfocused that I can't decide for a thing, simplely I write a list of the many things to learn (or to make). My actual pendings included four dances, three musical instruments, two artistic abilities and one sport. In descending order.

Well, in first place I want to learn four dances: tango, flamenco, salsa and pole dance; the two first dances because are very beautiful and I love see people dancing them; the third dance because are very funny and relaxed, and once I give lessons of it; the fourth dance because it tone up so much the muscles, from legs until arms.

In second place, I ever dream with can to express my feelings across to music, for this reason I want to learn to play guitar, harmonica and melódica. I know some things of guitar, mainly theoretical ideas and basic chords because I have many friends guitar-players and once I give to lessons of guitar in a Cultural House in Maipú... there I learned to play Caballito Blanco. But of harmonica or melódica I know nothing, but I believe these instruments are delightful.

In third place, I like so much photography and acrobatic clothings but I couldn't take any course of them, but I hope this semester can do it.

In last place, I would love to learn horse-riding, maybe for my familiar rural origin.

Good, see us.

Food and places

Hello! Today I will talk you about my favorites places to eat. Really, I am not very refined so I eat in wherever, but ever there are some specials places to eat and oneself don't leave them.

My first favorite place is located in San Carlos, in Eighth region, in front of the Square of San Carlos, next to cathedral, firemen and town hall. Its name is Lucerna, and here sell comun food, like cazuela, french fries, rice, meat, fish, but is a confortable place and delicious. Really I like it because ever I go there with my grandmom and sister, is a tradicion.

Other favorite place is La Retuca, because my uncle Federico, when he lived in Quilpué, invited us with my family and all food is very tasty. This place is located in Camino Lo Orozco, KM. 19, Quilpué, in a very hidden site. There makes a Celestinos awesome!

And my last favorite place is Tía Lucy, there there are many big sandwichs and a wonderful made-home mayonnais. This place is located in Maipú and it is open until smalls hours. Is the better place to go for a bajón!

Enjoy.

Holidays.

Ever my family had been very traditional and our holidays were in the same places: grandmother's house in San Carlos, Ñuble, or some days in the beach. Nothing uncommon. Until this year. A day I was speaking with the boyfriend of my sister and he invited me to travel to Puerto Montt because his father have a friends there and could host us. I like this idea and I told my father it, and also he like it. In few days all my family was ready to travel to south, because our travel finally included a itinerary from San Carlos, Ñuble, until Chiloé. A very long travel, but we have not long time, so we call on briefly some cities.

In the first day we left San Carlos and went to Laja, Temuco and we arrived at Villarrica and hosted here, knowing its craft fair, square and lake. Second day, we knew Caburgua lake, Eyes of Caburgua and Pucón beach; that night we also hosted in Villarrica. Thirth day, we went to Villarrica Volcano and we go up until volcano's caverns, after we went Lican Ray and we sail Calafquen lake and ate here, later we knew Panguipulli and its lake, and from here we travel to Valdivia and we hosted here that night. Fourth day, we go over Valdivia, Cruces river's wetland, Niebla, its fort and costumbrista fair, Corral fort, Kuntsmann and Salzburg breweries, and Saval park. Fifth day, we visit Fluvial Fair and later we went in direction to La Unión and Osorno, knowing its principals square and Osorno's cathedral; after we arrived at Frutillar and we went over the promenade and lake's theatre, and we went to Llanquihue and Puerto Varas, hosted in that place. Sixth day, we knew Puerto Montt and Angelmó, later we returned at Puerto Varas. Seventh day, we went until Chiloé, we stroll for Ancud, we went at Pingüineras and we arrived at Castro, here we ate and went over for its craft fair a long time. Eighth day, we went at Ensenada and we stayed in the house of a family's friends in the coast of Llanquihue lake until the next day, but before, we went at Petrohué waterfall. In Ensenada really I was fascinated, we had outside of our doors the lake and we could swing all the day there or to stay under the sky looking the stars and moon in calm. Tenth day, we returned at north and arrived San Carlos later a long day of travel from Puerto Varas. I came back Santiago the next day, after 11 days only travelling.

What I enjoy was to know unknown places for me and to eat so much. Travel was very beautiful.

"I am of Attaque, is a feeling that I can't stop"

Hi, like the topic proposed I will talk you about my favorite band. Really, today I believe that my choice is subject to a very personal judgement, not musical; that is it because when I was 13 years old began to hear punk music and they were the first band I knew.

Well, this band is Attaque 77 and I love them so much. They were born in 1987 in Argentina with Mariano Martínez in guitar, Federico Pertussi like voice, and his brother, Ciro in bass, mainly; but in 1988, Federico leave the band and Ciro take on like vocalist and leader position, also that year was integrated Leonardo de Cecco like drummer and, later of others members, in 1993 Luciando Scaglione enter to band like bass player. Mariano, Ciro, Leo and Luciando were the formation maintain during 16 years, until 2009 when Ciro decided to leave, since that year Attaque 77 isn't a quartet, staying until today like a trio, taking on Mariano like vocalist.

The type of music of them is mainly punk in their beginning, very strident and not much care with their sounds, but ever with many social criticism in their letters. Later, they had evolved in their sounds, including more metaphorical (and love) songs and covers to others artist, although never forgot their criticism essence.

What like me of them is the way in what they expose the social problems in their songs, like poverty, political corruption, laboral explotation and dictatorship; and I like so much their song about political and social fight, like a song that they writted by Zanon's workers. Also, in another way, I love their love songs and many others that say of hope or dreams, including these sad songs, because are very touching.

Really I don't know what is my favorite song, because many of them are very significant to me so I grew up with Attaque 77 and I happened a lot of differents moments listen to them. But there are some songs that MUST be known, like "Donde las águilas se atreven" where they tell about the popular organization, what even though the failures, "if gather together us, they aren't going to stop us". Hear it in live is really exciting.

Enjoy it!

The need of a strike.

Well, really is very difficult to write about the problems in the education, because is hard to understand all factors are implicated. In Facso, like others facultys, there are many discussions about what we want and need in our professional and academical formation; few times all the students are agree about all: some people want a education to educate us like professionals, other people don't want a education for the laboral market. Really is hard to decide because still we don't know what want from education for the society.

In our faculty the main problems are relacionated with the quality of teaching and the public vocation of the knowledge, and this problems are responded perfectly to the actual system. For this reason we were on strike the last week and we expect to continue in this status. Live us in a society dominate for the market and the idea of to get utilities for each one, forgeting the others, forgeting that all us live in society, not only; to change the way in that society has live the education is the dispute.

In these strike I was a few absent because I work some days in the morning and all fridays, for this reason I arrive late at the faculty and I lose all the activities. Neither I voted because I am in fifth year and almost everybody of my classmates are without subjects, they are doing theirs practice and grade seminary for degree. But I believe that is deeply necessary mobilise us today, the elections are a big defiance for the student and social movements, for to put on the table the real problems of the society and the political class makes something for this situacion sometime!

The benefits in material terms are little today and in the short-term, but to fight for our demands and a new educational model is really important to construct a most equality society. The drawbacks ever are more in individual terms because to remain is not funny, even in my case is complicated because I must to begin my professional practice in second semester and if the strike is long, I don't know when could begin it and to finish my career. But I believe that a few of sacrifice isn't so terrible.

Finally, in our position, to get our demands require of a lot of patience and action, also creativity, but above all patience and action. I don't know that new forms could use, because all the creativity of the world will not get a triumph to the movement.

Well, bye.

Hello!

I will to talk you about the Chilean Left and its political transformations in the last 40 years. I take this topic because it is a investigation that actually I’m developing to the university.

My investigation is historical and for this reason I decided to divide my presentation into 3 parts, and each one is corresponded with a historical time. In first place, I will speak you about the Left in the Popular Unit; second, I will tell you about how impacted the coup d'etat and dictatorship in the Chilean Left; in thirt and last place, I will talk you about Concertación and what was the Chilean Left when it came back to the democracy.

Well, I find very interesting this topic because I believe that is required to revise the History to understand the world in that live us. Without it I believe very difficult that we will learn the lessons from the past, to build a better place to the future. And specially this topic is interesting because it allow us to understand the political process and its impacts in the social life, above all this topic what is refered to recent events whose clues even are present.

My sociological way.

Hello!

All my life, I wished to be a teacher because I love to learn and to contribute to the learning of others. But, in 2006, later Penguin Movement, I felt the need of to understand the social problems and how we, the people, could resolve them. In that moment, I thought in to study Political Science, but this career aren’t in the University of Chile, and I want to study here only; because I looked for a career that could approach to study of the political world and, obviusly, the society. And, in this way, I land in the Sociology.

The way in that professionals of my area contribute to society is very questionable. Really, a lot of people enter to Sociology thinking to change the world, including me, and here we crash with the sad reality: the university and the career are institucional structures and to change them are so difficult, it require many effort and time. But, even so there are persons working in this way and not only they investigate about the society, also they are to commit in a politic groups, and I think is from this places that really the changes are generated.

I believe what a profesional in Sociology needs to have above all critical thought to question the reality. And my favourite subject is all about Latin America, Social Movements and Political Thought.

Bye!

Ill!

Really is hard to me to write about something if I haven’t thought in it, but is true that always there is something to talk. In my case, could tell you that today I have a cold and cough. Seriously I believe that I catch cold the last Friday when I went to see a concert of Fito Páez and Los Tres at outdoors in Maipú. This concert started at 8 o’clock and it finished nearly at 12 PM, and this day was especialy very cold and blew wind. Later, with my friends went to look for any restobar to drink beer and to eat something, whatever, but every place was full, so we decided to go to other place only to eat, because we went over many places and we didn’t find any place to eat at the same time. In that moment it was almost 1 AM and we went to “Tia Lucy”, there also we had to wait because it was full too. In the end, we ate some big churrascos and we drank tea, but our voyage lets me a nice cold that is during almost a week. I hope to improve me this weekend.

Hopes for the future.

Hello!

Now, I will write about my ambitions and hopes to the future. Really, I’m a hardenet dreamer and very unfocused, for this reason, ever I want to do many things; in fact, I do and I update constantly a list about “Things what I want to do” and in this moment in my list there are many things to do, like to learn photography and to play guitar, to learn to read the tarot too, to practice Yoga, to learn to dance Flamenco and Tango, and take equestrianism’s classes and acrobatic’s classes too. Well, obviously this activities are impossible to do in the short term, but I hope can to do in any moment of my life.

And, in others plans, currently I’m in my last semester in the university and because of that I’m thinking seriously my future. In first moment, my main –and only- hope was to be able to finish the career and later I study history, because this has been my real motivation to join in Sociology. But the possibilities of to study other career in Chile are impossible for me, in economic terms. For this reason, my ambition in this moment is I achieve a scholarship to study a Master in Latinamerican Studies, in Nacional University of Mexico, or Buenos Aires University, because in this way I could to develop me in the historical’s investigation area, with emphasis in politics and social topics.

For last, is difficult for me to talk who inspired me, because I don't know still why I'm humanist and I became interested in social problematics, but these topics are very relevant for me, and they are very relevant for the society too.

Bye!

Internet in my life!

Today is really difficult keep us far away of internet, all in our lifes spin around the fast information and mass medias, and internet give us this possibilities. I like technology and I can't be confortable without it. Before I was in all places with my netbook and I was connected, later my dad gaves to me a smartphone and now I use it, everyday.

The main websites that I visit are social networks like Gmail (and its chat, Gtalk), Facebook, Twitter, Flickr or Instagram, and I write in my blog sometimes, I have it since 2006, but it is secret... And, for this reason, generally I read many blogs in internet; I had discovered some blogs throught journals and magazines. Really, I love to read other people and its lifes, and stories about relationships mainly, these are very enjoyable.

In fact, my favorites blogs are FAQWomen and FAQMen, these are spaces where men writes about women and women writes about men, respectively. Both are very funny, and I like so much them. I hope that you enjoy them.

See you, bye!
